Baolong Yang

Aspiring Urbanist, Planner, Designer, Photographer and Geographer

About

Baolong (BL) is an academically trained urban planner, designer, and geographer. Thanks to his personal experiences growing up in Hefei, Singapore and lately London, BL is constantly fascinated by cities, in particular, people, urban spaces, and encounters.

Recently graduated with a masters in urban planning at the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London, his dissertation focuses on planning mobility between Singapore and China via a postcolonial lens. Upon returning to Singapore, he is currently seeking employment opportunities in the urban realm, and hoping to amalgamate his geographic background with planning and design knowledge, in order to contribute to a better urban future. BL’s current academic interests primarily revolve around temporality, Lefebvre’s conceptualisaton of la vie quotidienne, ableism, and human-scale design interventions in and through cities.

Versed in Chinese painting since young, graphic design and photography are BL’s main outlets of artistic expression lately. In spite of experiencing various forms of photography, street speaks to him deeply with an explicit emphasis on humans and the human-scale. Seeking inspiration from the everyday and the ordinary, BL observes, enjoys, and captures ephemeral moments whenever he can.

Feel free to drop BL a message, and he could be contacted here.
